Three Medals of Honor to Be Presented to Vietnam and Afghanistan Veterans

A ceremony will award the Medal of Honor to three U.S. service members. Two former Force Recon Marines are among the honorees. Their heroic actions occurred more than 50 years ago during the Vietnam War. An Army officer will also be recognized for extraordinary bravery. The officer's cited actions took place in Afghanistan in 2012. The Medal of Honor is the nation’s highest military decoration. Recipients join a distinguished group of past Medal of Honor holders. The event highlights ongoing recognition of both historic and recent combat valor.
